From start to finish, here's everything you need to know.

Before your Appointment...
In order to schedule your appointment, we first need an MRI requisition from your doctor, specialist, chiropractor, or nurse practitioner. Once we receive that form, we'll contact you to go over some pre-screening questions, answer any questions you may have, and book your appointment. Any specific preparation instructions for your exam will be given to you at this time.

Our new scanner is bigger and better in every way - including shorter scan times, allowing us to book most appointments within a week.

Safety...
Due to the strong magnetic field, it is very important for us to know about your surgical history. Most surgical implants are safe but we may require more information to be certain. Please let us know if you have any of the following:
-
Cardiac Pacemaker
-
Stents or valve replacements
-
Cochlear implants
-
Aneurysm clips
-
History of metallic fragments or slivers in your eyes
-
Neurostimulators
-
Programmable shunts
-
Glucose monitors, insulin or medication pumps
-
Medication patches.

During...
When you arrive for your appointment, you'll be greeted by our amazing front desk team.
There will be a quick MRI pre-screening form for you to fill out and once that's complete, one of our skilled technologists will take over. They will direct you to your change room, provide you with comfortable metal-free clothing, and go over the test and some more pre-screening questions with you (we're big on safety).

Positioning on the table will depend on what is being scanned, and a specific device that we call a coil (which is the camera) will be placed on or around the area to be examined. We will provide hearing protection because it is very noisy - it makes a loud knocking sound when the scans are being acquired. Our cameras are incredibly sensitive to motion, so it is important to remain still while in the scanner, as any motion could reduce the quality of the images. The technologist will be in contact with you throughout your entire exam and you are given a call button to press if you need to get their attention at any time.

Some exams require an MRI contrast injection to get more detail. This is unlike other contrast dyes used in X-ray or CT and it is very rare to have an allergic reaction.

After...
After your scan is complete, our radiologist will review those images, and the written results will be sent to your doctor within the next 2 business days.
You will have access to your results through the Image One Patient Portal, which we will set up with you when you arrive for your appointment. Unfortunately, we are unable to discuss those results with you and ask that you do any follow up with your referring physician to determine what your next step will be.

After an MRI you are free to resume normal activity.
