We took the time to interview Corinne, the leader of our team, to give patients insight into the staff behind the Image One MRI Clinic. Enjoy!
I graduated in 1995, so I am going on my 22nd year as an MRI technologist. They say people change careers an average of 7 times throughout their life. I love what I do and I have never wanted to do anything else.
I took my MRI course in Winnipeg, followed by my clinical training and 2 years of full-time work at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. I then worked 12 years as the charge technologist at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. I have been at Image One MRI for 7 ½ years.
Additionally, I taught 2 semesters of MR Safety and Patient Care at the same college I took my course, and have spent many years volunteering with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
I love getting to know the patients. Whether it’s their 1st or 10th time, my satisfaction comes from making their MRI experience a pleasant one. I also love the technology. Even after 22 years I’m still amazed by the quality of the images.
I try to reassure nervous patients by telling them as much as possible about what to expect for their MRI. It’s human to “fear the unknown,” so I try to provide as much information as possible ahead of time so there’s less fear. I also tell patients that 99% of people who are afraid beforehand come out the of the scanner saying “that was not nearly as bad as I thought!”. I love when people say that, it means I’ve done my job!
The staff at our clinic are very friendly and professional, and strive to make the MRI experience a positive one for every patient. Our technologists are highly trained with almost 50 years of combined experience.
I am very proud to be a part of the team at Image One MRI. We evaluate each request to make sure the MRI is appropriate for the patient. We support and participate in several clinical research studies. I also love working with such a professional team that loves to have fun both at work and with community events.
