A statement from Image One MRI on CCSVI and MRI Scans
Image One MRI is aware of recent reports on the subject of Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) and the potential for new possibilities of therapy for Multiple Sclerosis. Whilst we understand there is tremendous interest in this new research in the community, there are currently no qualified research investigations in which we are participating. Therefore, we are not offering this specific type of scan at this time.
The MS Society of Canada has issued an invitation for research grants for qualified institutions across Canada. If we are contacted by any local investigators participating in such research in the future, Image One will be pleased to be involved, if it is technically feasible. Research protocols follow strict guidelines and specific criteria and as such are very different than the MRI scans that are routinely done to investigate MS.
Currently we are not aware of any such research being conducted in the Okanagan Valley or the Interior of British Columbia. Please discuss your interest in this research with your neurologist or check with www.mssociety.ca for updates. If Image One MRI is able to participate in this exciting new research in the future we will update our website and also notify all local physicians and neurologists.
Please note that Image One does not currently offer any ultrasound imaging services, including the Doppler ultrasound indicated in this research protocol.
